I value community engagement and collaboration between our city government and residents. We can do more to make sure that residents are informed and have a strong voice in decision-making.
I will work to make Moorhead an even more vibrant and welcoming place to live, work, and invest. As a former Moorhead Planning Commissioner and neighborhood advocate, I am well prepared to promote thoughtful planning that encourages economic development while also protecting homeowners’ investments and promoting neighborhood vitality.
I am excited to help to build on the momentum that is underway in Moorhead’s downtown. I will work to make our city center a source of pride that highlights the qualities that make Moorhead distinct.
Why I’m Running
In 2000, my husband and I sold our small business in upstate New York and moved with our son to Moorhead’s Historic Comstock Neighborhood. I am proud to live in one of Moorhead’s oldest neighborhoods. Our houses tell the stories of people who established our city, from Solomon Comstock who helped found what is now MSUM, to laborers who emigrated from far off lands and built some of Moorhead’s finest buildings. But living here also made me aware of challenges that older neighborhoods face. This led me to help establish a neighborhood association and to organize meetings to bring together residents, developers, and city leaders.
In 2011 I was appointed to the Moorhead Planning Commission, where I actively sought balanced solutions that encouraged new investment while also preserving neighborhoods and protecting homeowners. Our city continues to grow and to thrive, as additional neighborhoods and businesses are established, and new families call Moorhead home. I am eager to build on our strengths, and would be honored to serve you on the Moorhead City Council!
